Study program Molecular Medicine

This study program consists of a consecutive Bachelor of Science (6 semesters) and Master of Science (3 semesters). It aims at students who are interested in a comprehensive education in experimental and theoretical medicine. For more than 10 years, Prof. Dr. Holger Reichardt has been the spokesman of this study program. He also serves as the vice spokesman of the examination committee and as the spokesman of the selection committee. Teaching in the Bachelor program is in German while teaching in the Master program is exclusively in English.

BSc Molecular Medicine

Module B.MM.106 (Introduction into Molecular Medicine). Lecture series by members of the Medical Faculty who introduce current topics of scientific research conducted at the University Medical Center Göttingen. The lecture series is organized by Prof. Dr. Holger Reichardt.

Module B.MM.206 (Special Methods of Molecular Medicine). In this module, students get acquainted with the routine of a scientific laboratory by learning immunological methods or participating in a research project, generally supervised by experienced PhD students of post-doctoral fellows. The time frame in 1-6 weeks.

Module B.MM.302 (Infection and Immunity). This module introduces students into basic concepts of immunology, microbiology and virology. It consists of lecture series from all three topics, and is accompanied by seminars, tutorials and a repetitorium that help to consolidate the aquired knowledge. The time frame is 4 weeks.

Bachelor thesis. Our institute offers a wide range of topics suitable for the preparation of an experimental thesis. The time frame is 15 weeks including a preparative laboratory internship.

MSc Molecular Medicine

Module M.MM.101 (Biomolecules and Pathogens). This module consists of a theoretical and a practical part, and is jointly offered by the Institute for Cellular and Molecular Immunology, the Intitute of Medical Microbiology, the Institute of Clinical Pharmacology, and the Department of Infection Biology of the German Primate Center. The theoretical part consists of lecture series covering advanced aspects of all 4 involved diciplines. Additional seminars, tutorials and a repetitorium are offered to consolidate the aquired knowledge (time frame: 7 weeks). The subsequent practical part consists of a lab rotation that can be performed in any research laboratory in Göttingen (time frame: 8 weeks). The module is organized by Prof. Dr. Holger Reichardt.

Master thesis. Our institute offers a wide range of topics suitable for the preparation of an experimental thesis. The time frame is 6 months.
